HOUSE ADJOURNS TILL THURSDAY ON CONCLUDING IMPREST DEBATE. PARTIES AND THE WAR EFFORT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) * 'WELLINGTON, This Day. The Imprest Supply Bill debate, which was resumed in the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon, concluded last night with* a reply by the Minister of Finance, Mr Nash, to arguments raised during the discussion. Soon after his speech the House _ adjourned till next Thursday, when it is hoped to present the Budget and the estimates of revenue and expenditure for the current financial year. Should the necessity arise the House will be called together sooner. The first speaker in the debate yesterday was Mr Goosman (Opposition, Waikato), who occupied his time in a discussion on problems confronting the farmer. He referred particularly to the difficulties experienced by farmers in obtaining skilled labour, and suggested that camps should be established from which the primary producers would be able to obtain the services of efficient men when required. The necessity for unity if the country were to obtain the maximum war effort was stressed by Mr Forbes (Opposition. Hurunui). Referring to the negotiations for the formation of a War Cabinet. Mr Forbes said the Opposition had felt the position was so grave that it had decided to approach the Government, even though it had laid itself open to the mistaken imp'ression that it was hankeiing foi scats in the Government. In his reply to the debate Mr Nash denied a suggestion that there was anything unfriendly in the attitude of the Government to the Opposition over the War Cabinet negotiations, and said he was still hopeful of unity being achieved. , The Bill authorises two months supply amounting to £10,500,000. The House rose at 11.10 p.m.
