NAZI PLOT
EXPOSED IN URUGUAY AIMING AT MILITARY OCCUPATION REPORT BY PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEE. GERMAN LEGATION IMPLICATED. By Telegraph —Press Association —Copyright. MONTEVIDEO, June 19. The committee appointed by the Chamber of Deputies to investigtite Nazi activities found that there had been proved to be:—
First, a Nazi political organisation in the district of Uruguay to form blocs 3nd cel Is" Second, the existence of over 150 German motor-cyclists;
Third, a plan for military occupation of the Republic by the Nazis, with the distribution of an active army and reserve army; Fourth, participation by the German Legation in a •journalistic campaign in favour of Nazi infiltration; Fifth, a plan for the distribution of German functionaries and the partition of lands, “covering our nation, country, and peasants”; Sixth, the commission of crimes against the nation, both individually and collectively. The Chamber adjourned till Monday and, in the meantime, will consider measures to be taken in connection with the committee’s conclusions, including, it is asserted first, the proven contraband activities of the German Legation, including the importation of propaganda injurious to nations which are friendly to Uruguay and also motion picture and radio apparatus in quantities in excess of private necessities; second, the Nazi campaign for political penetration of the public administration; third, the political "Hiller Youth” movement throughout the country whose students have established an anti-patriotic organisation in the Federal capital. Paysandu: fourth, the practising of manoeuvres by Storm Troopers; and fifth, the special Nazi police. ARMY ON WAR FOOTING. The Minister of Defence. Senor Julio Roleti. referring to the investigation of "fifth column” activities, said that the army had been prepared since May 26 as though for war and attack. All' garrisons were manned and there were units in Montevideo ready for transhipment anywhere in Uruguay. “We have plenty of arms.” he said, “and, in addition, we can count on the full support of our brothers in Argentina anti Brazil.” The Ministry of Defence has issued a proclamation exhorting all men of military age to volunteer for the army in order to fill the quotas before June 25. All women are asked to volunteer foi - the auxiliary services.
