“LAME DUCK GETS HOME.” —A Lockheed Hudson of the R.A.F. Coastal Command received direct hits from anti-aircraft guns when on reconnaissance over Norway. Shells pierced both wings and shrapnel spattered the fuselage and starboard engine and punctured the right tyre. A petrol tank was holed and many gallons of spin were lost, vet in spite of all these disabilities the machine was piloted home safely to her base on one engine, but with her crew unhurt.
