The Admiralty announces that a “German official news agency report that ‘violent encounters took place last night off the east coast of England between German motorboats and British destroyers’ presumably refers to an attempt by enemy motorboats on a British convoy during Sunday night. Such ■.an attack did take place but the convoy and escort proceeded on their way unharmed. It is not known whether damage was inflicted on the enemy. No encounters took place last night between our forces and enemy motor topedoboats.”
