RIVERSIDE CLUB’S DOINGS FOURBALL BOGEY CONTEST. JUNIORS SHOW THE SENIORS HOW THEY CAN PLAY.

(By

“Longdrive.")

During the weekend the members of Riverside Golf Club played in a fourball bogey competition, the junior and senior’ members being drawn together. This competition proved most popular, as most of the junior players are only too anxious to show the seniors just how well they can play.

The best card handed in was that of J. Wakelin and Gordon Longworth, their score being six up. Their success was due to the good play of Jack Wakelin. his medal round being 77 off the stick. This is the best card he has returned. Included in his score were three "birdies.”

Another pair who combined very well was M. Thornton and N. Hoar, 5 up on bogey. Their medal rounds were 80 and 81 respectively. After being 4 up for the first nine . C. Walker and F. Pool relaxed a little and could only win one more hole, their final score being 5 up. As predicted last week, C. Anderson still continues to show an improvement in his golf. Playing with A. Bell on Saturday this pair returned a score of 4 up. During the weekend the extentions to the club house were officially opened by the president (Mr J. Hume) and the opportunity was taken to celebrate the occasion of F. Pool's hole-in-one, which he scored recently.

On June 16 the Riverside Club will be defending the "Dominion Life" Challenge Cup. against -the Mahunga team.

Riverside successfully withstood several challenges last season and they are confident in retaining the trophy again on Sunday.
