TERRITORIAL FORCE
SCHOOL OF INSTRUCTION. ACTIVITIES AT TAUHERINIKAU. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day.. The first steps in bringing the Territorial Force to a state of efficiency higher than it has ever previously attained. even in compulsory training days, are being undertaken at the Central District School of Instruction, Tauherenikau racecourse. There officer:' and n.c.o.’s of the Ist Battalion, Wellington Regiment (City of Wellington’s Own), which is to be the first of the Territorial regiments to be placed on a wartime footing, are in training. The officers and n.c.o.’s are undertaking an intensive refresher course and in e month will cover, the training that similar ranks from regiments outside .Wellington will go through in two months. The body of the regiment are duo to report for duty on July 1, and mean ■ time are being medically examined in batches. The standard of fitness will be the same as that for overseas service and the examination includes Xray. Those encamped at Tauherenikau are doing a full six days' training a week officers and n.c.o.’s being grouped together in the first three weeks for instructional purposes. It is the aim o' the Army authorities to assist in bring ing the Territorial Force to peak efficiency. that every officer and rankc’ from the highest to the lowest shal know his job thoroughly and in the case of those up the scale that, they shall be fully conversant with the work of the men below them and the demonstration of its correct performance-,
