A 19-year-old Mansfield girl. Elizabeth Smitm, was fatally shot in the back when an automobile failed to answer a military sentry’s challenge on the main road in the Midlands. A sentry on the outskirts of Nottingham fired on an automobile containing two army officers. One was wounded.
