PAINTERS’ AWARD
FIVE-DAY WEEK OF FORTY HOURS. DOUBLE TIME ON SATURDAYS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Dominion Painters’ Award is for a 40-hour, five-day week! All work on Saturday, except by those engaged on ship repair work, is to be paid for at double time rates. It is to be a breach of the award to engage on Saturday work, except ship repair work, without a permit from the Labour Department. The minimum rate is 2s 9d an hour.
