OBITUARY
MR ERNEST BATCHELOR. The death occurred at his son’s residence, at Carrington, on Saturday afternoon of Mr Ernest Batchelor, of Masterton, at the age of 76 years. The deceased had not been ill long, and, with his wife, was spending a holiday with his son. Mr Batchelor was born at Greymouth, and was well known and respected in Masterton and in Carterton, where he had many friends. Recently he had been under medical care, suffering with heart trouble. At one time deceased was employed in Wellington as an accountant. He leaves a widow and a son, Mr Cyril Arnold Batchelor, a farmer of Carrington, and a daughter, Mrs Thorpe, of Marton. The funeral took place at the Clareville Cemetery this afternoon.
