SUMMARY OF FINANCIAL POSITION. “The total receipts from all sources from the inception of the fund in 1915, down to March 31, 1940, amount to £229,108 Is lOd and the total payments to £206,987 5s 6d, leaving a net balance of funds in hand at this date of £22,120 16s 4d, a decrease of £959 5s 2d on the previous years,” states the annual report of the Wairarapa Patriotic Association. “The total cost of administration over 25 years is £lO,OBB 10s Id, or 4.4 per cent of the total contributions, or 2.3 per cent of the total receipts plus total payments aggregating £436,095. Interest from investments has yielded £40,285 12s gross and £34,033 7s 3d net. Advances to soldiers totalled £104,009 2s 3d; repayments, £66,489 3s Id and writings off £27,488 2s lOd, leaving outstanding £10,031 16s 4d. Loans converted to grants during the year amount to £797 Is Bd. Altogether the sum of £2913 15s lOd has been written off through the operations of the Adjustment Court, with the irrecoverable loss of that sum to the association. Income for the year was £615 2s sd, of which £551 2s 5d was from interest. Expenditure for the year was £1574 7s 7d, exceeding income by £959 5s 2d and depleting the fund of that amount.”
