Germany’s most decisive enterprise is today’s battle for France. All the means wc know of have been put into operation. German aircraft and armoured divisions are again attempting to break our front. On the ground on which we are forced to improvise resistance, our army is showing how it is adapting itself to nc.w conditions of warfare. The whole world watches breathlessly the development of this battle. The realisation of Hitler’s dream of hegemony would mean the return of the Middle Ages, but the French and British opposing Hitler are different from those of twenty years ago.” CHANGES IN MINISTRY AND ARRESTS IN PARIS. NEW PROOF OF NATIONAL RESOLUTION. PARIS, June 6. Mm. Louis Marin and Jean Ybarnegaray have been appointed members of the Cabinet without portfolio. M. Paul Vaudoin, Secretary to the WaiCabinet, is also Under-Secretary to the Prime Minister’s office and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The semi-official Telefrance Agency, commenting on the arrests of five persons prominent in social life today, says: ‘‘The reconstitution of the Government and the arrest of a number of personalities known for their attachment to a policy of compromise affords new proof of the country’s determination to pursue the war alongside the Allies to complete victory.”
