SALE OF DAIRY STOCK. A GOOD AVERAGE. The New Zealand Farmers’ Co-op. Distributing Coy, Ltd., report on a most successful clearing sale held on account of Mr F. Ridder, of Mangamutu Road, Pahiatua, when the dairy stock was offered to a large attendance of local buyers. The cows came forward in good condition, a big percentage showing a fair amount of age. The total herd average, including three-quarter-bred cows came out better than £10; this being a good average considering the highest individual price realised was £l3 10s. The threeyear springing Jersey heifers made £lO, while the two-year springing Jersey heifers, small in size, made £7 ' 2s 6d. An outside entry ’of two-year heifers realised £8 7s 6d as a line, while Mr Ridder’s yearling Jersey heifers bought £3 10s.' A four-year gelding was sold under the hammer at £3B. A rising five-year Jersey bull bought 15gns; a Shorthorn yearling bull 6gns. Steele Queen discs, £11; McCormick mower, £l7 10s. Breeding sows readily sold at from £4 2s 6d to £4 10s. Sundries also were disposed of at most satisfactory prices, while the hay offered was most keenly sought sought after. The top quality line made £6 10s per ton, the medium quality line realised £5 12s per ton, while the third grade hay sold at £4 per ton.

EKETAHUNA SALE. SHEEP PRICES LOWER. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report on their weekly Eketahuna sale held yesterday as follows: A good yarding of sheep and cattle came forward and were offered to a large attendance. On the whole the sheep yarded did not show quality and prices in sympathy showed a weakening tendency. Cattle, however, were in demand and sold at prices slightly in advance of those ruling of late. A total clearance was effected under the hammer, and the following list will indicate values: Mixed age ewes r.w. Romney ram, 19s; small ewe hoggets, 7s 6d to 8s Id; small wether hoggets, 6s 6d; 20-mos P.A. steers, £3 17s to £4 2s 6d; low condition cows and calves, £3 7s 6d to £4 6s; vealers, 355; 20-mos heifers, £2 13s; medium 21year steers, £5 14s. During the cattle sale Mr D. H. Butcher donated 1 guinea from the sale of his pens of cattle to the Red Cross Sick and Wounded Fund. At the Masterton sale on May 29 Mr H. R. Allen, Upper Plain, purchased cattle which were offered that day on account of the Red Cross Society. These cattle were again offered at Elcetahuna yesterday, and Mr Allen has kindly donated the net profit, 2 which amounted to 5 guineas, back to \ the Red Cross Fund.
