FOLK DANCE GROUP
PROGRESS OF MASTERTON CLASS. The Folk Dance group recently formed by Miss N. Thomson, Recreation Officer of the Physical Welfare and Recreation branch of the Department of Internal Affairs held its second class on Wednesday night in the Town Hall. Several new, and interesting dances were learnt and it was decided to increase the membership, so that a larger amount would be handed to Patriotic Funds. Miss Thomson stated this morning that as a new set of simple dances was taught each night there would be no difficulty in anyone missing the first and second nights. “It is to be hoped that membership will increase so that the opportunity of absorbing the spirit of the dances from other countries will not be missed,” observed Miss Thomsen. Folk dancing was an ideal means of recreation particularly in times of stress when relaxation was so necessary. It was decided to hold the next class on Wednesday, June 10 at 8 o’clock in the Town Hall.
