AIR BATTLE

SWISS ENGAGE GERMAN BOMBERS SEVERAL OF THE INTRUDERS BROUGHT DOWN. ONE DEFENDING PILOT KILLED. An air battle is reported to have taken place over Switzerland, Daventry states, when Swiss planes came into conflict with German bombers. A squadron of German planes flew over Swiss territory and Swiss planes engaged them. From details so far available two or three of the German aircraft come dawn. During the fight a Swiss plane crashed and the pilot was killed. OFFICIAL REPORT TWO OR THREE NAZI PLANES SHOT DOWN. (Received This Day. 10.10 a.m.) BERNE, June 4. A Swiss High Command communique says: “It is believed that Swiss planes shot down two or three German, planes in a battle over the Swiss Jura Mountains. One Swiss plane was brought down and its pilot killed.”
