NEW DEFENCE MEASURES STUDIED CONTINUED ROUND-UP OF GERMANS. CLOSE CO-OPERATION WITH BRITAIN. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. « CAIRO, June 4. The police continue to round up Germans. The Prime Minister, Aly Maher Pasha, declared that the Government was studying new measures against Fifth Columnists. Aliens are required to appear at the police stations to prove their identity. Special police are stationed in the streets of Alexandra in order to scan the skies for parachutists. The Prime Minister said in an interview that Egypt would stand by Britain in the spirit of the Anglo-Egyp-tian treaty. He also said that cooperation between Egypt and Great Britain was closer now than ever before.
Palestine,, too, is ready, and the nation-wide black-out begun as a test has been made permanent till further notice.
The departure of Italians from Egypt is becoming more general, and one ship picked up from Port Said Italian school children from all parts of the country.
