OUTSTANDING SUCCESS
STATE KITCHENETTE DANCE municipal hall last night. RESULT OF WALTZING COMPETITION. The dance held by the staff of the State Kitchenette jn the Municipal Hall last night was an outstanding success. There was a happy crowd, who enjoyed the many novelty items and competitions. Mr J. Bruce was M.C. and kept proceedings going with a swing to the splendid music provided by Mr Jack Barnes’s Rhythm Boys. Mrs J. W. Hayden, gowned in black floral net over glacier, was hostess. A feature of the gathering was the waltzing competition, which resulted in a win for Miss M. Greenlees and Mr Bass. The Monte Carlo competition was won by Miss Bruce and Mr Howard. An excellent “brain teaser” competition was won by Miss N. Hargood with Mr D. Rutherford second. An apple Derby, which provided considerable amusement, was won by Miss Jensen and Mr Dean.
Supper arrangements, which were on buffet lines, had received particular attention and were greatly appreciated by patrons. A feature was the little animals, cleverly made of raisins, sweets, etc., on the tables. Dancing was continued to an early hour this morning, when the singing of Auld Lang Syne and the National Anthem brought a brilliant gathering to a close.
