GUN CLUB

WELLINGTON PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIP.

The Masterton Gun Club held a successful meeting at Te Ore Ore during the weekend, the chief event being the Wellington Provincial Championship. of 21 birds off 18 yards, which was won by D. S. McKenzie in a shoot-off with W. H. Saunders, runnerup. Visitors were present from all parts of the North Island, and a good day’s shooting was experienced. Morning and afternoon tea and luncheon was provided by a ladies’ committee comprising Mesdames J. McKenzie, M. Smith, If. Storer, and Misses D. and J. McKenzie, to whom a hearty vote of thanks was passed. Results are: —

Wellington Provincial Championship (21 birds off 18 yards): D. McKenzie. 1; W. H. Saunders, 2; J. W. McKenzie. 3 (E. Groome also shot 20 out of the possible, and shot 6 in the shoot-off but was not eligible, being a resident of Hawke’s Bay). Nine bird trophy shoof: H. B. Newman, 1: H. K. Smith. 2; J. Gallagher, 3. T. Brown and W. Maroney also scored possibles but were beaten in the shoot-off.

£.l Sweep (15 birds): J. W. McKenzie and H. K. Smith (both scored possibles) equal. 1. Second £ 1 Sweep: C. E. Grey. H. B. Newman. H. K. Smith. J. W. McKenzie, and D. S. McKenzie all tied for first, scoring possibles.
