MORAL SUASION
UNARMED PILOT SENDS JUNKER INTO FATAL CRASH. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, June 2. The superiority of the British pilots over the Germans was strikingly exmeplificd during intense operations near Dunkirk on Saturday. The pilot of a British fighter, having been engaged in a number of combats found himself both out of ammunition and close ,to an enemy bomber. Instead of making himself scarce, he immediately manoeuvred skilfully and got on the Junker's tail. Then the British pilot worried the enemy so much by a succession of stunts that ultimately he made a fatal error in trying to turn and went crashing to the ground. Seldom can an unarmed pilot have gained victory over a fully-armed enemy. SOMME FRONT INSPECTED BY FRENCH MINISTERS. MORALE OF ARMY NEVER HIGHER. PARIS, June 3. The Premier, M Reynaud, the Vicepremier, Marshal Petain, and ViceMinister of Armaments, M Dautry, visited the Somme front, after which M Reynaud announced that the morale of the army was never higher. He congratulated the High Command on the energy and rapidity with which the defence had been organised, and also on a remarkable adaptation to the conditions of the present war. The front from the Somme to the Rhine is calm, except for local exchanges of automatic arms along the Aisnc and some artillery action cast of the Moselle.
