WEEKEND COMPETITIONS MAHUNGA CLUB. LADIES' GAMES. A medal round was played on Saturday by the lady members of the Mahunga Club, the following being the best cards handed in: —Mrs W. Hendry, score 99, handicap 33, total 66: Mrs D. A. Hunn, 98, 31, 67: Miss U. Holtham, 96, 28. 68; Miss N. Smith, 94, 22. 72. MEN’S MEDAL ROUND. The best net scores returned for a medal round played by the men members on Saturday were: —I. I. McGregor, 63: J. W. Dove. 64: N. Bach. 67; I. McFarlane. 67: C. A. Carrig. 68; V. E. Burridge, 70; W. N. A. Hosking, 71.
MASTERTON CLUB COMPETITION RESULTS. A PATRIOTIC EFFORT. The following are the results of the competitions played during the weekend:— Medal: H. R. Beetham 88-20-68; J. E. Falloon 86-16-70; M. Armstrong 97-26.-71; J. A. Card 88-16-72; H. B. Berney 89-16-73.
Stableford: J. E. Broad 34; H. L Esau 32; E. Nitz 32; R. Weston 32. Fourball: J. C. Broad and R. McKenzie 2 up; J. Donald and G. Brown 1 up. Bogey: L. Pither 2 down; J. Donald I down.
The net proceeds of the competition: amounting to over £lO, are to be donated to the Red Cross funds. Durinf the presentation of prizes several golf balls were put up for auction and the following donations towards the Red Cross funds were received: —H. R Beetham £l. J. Jameson £3 Bs, H. Esau £1 2s, W. G. Whiteman £1 Is, Sundries Ils; total £2l 13s 6d. RIVERSIDE SERIES OF COMPETITIONS. PLAY DURING THE WEEKEND. A series of competitions were held during the weekend by members of the Riverside Golf Club. On Saturday afternoon there was a very satisfactory number of entries, and the cards handed in indicated the keenness of the competition. The winner of a medal round was L. Roff with 66 net. H. Knox, B. Wilmshurst and Brian Jones were next with 67 net each, followed by M. Thornton 68 and J. Lulham 69.
In a Stableford round, S. Onion handed in a card with 35 points and A. Bell was in second place with 33 points. J. Lulham and H." Knox, 32 points, each filled third place. / The final contest was a bogey round which ended in a toe for H. Knox and A. Bell, all square. The ladies played an L.G.U. medal round orn Saturday afternoon, the best cards being: Miss E. Wood, 88, 21, 67; Mrs Naan 105, 32, 73; Mrs Clarke 97, 21, 76; Miss J. Dixon 113, 36, 77.
The fine weather for the weekend proved a boon to the many players taking part.
