Frist round in second flight: Barrett beat Forbes; Lawrence beat Shankland; Harp beat F. Hill; S. Hill beat Candy. Semi-finals: Barrett beat Lawrence; S. Hill beat Harp. BRIDE-TO-BE r GUEST AT PARTY. f' There was a very large attendance at the Parkvale Hall on Saturday night when Miss A. Gray was tendered a “parcel evening” in honour of her approaching marriage to Mr H. J. Biggs, of Lower Hutt. The time was spent in cards and dancing. The music for the dancing was supplied by Mrs V. J. Ashton and Mr Harding, of Masterton.
The Monte Carlo was won by Miss D. Roberts and Mr M. Gray. The card prizewinners were as follow: —Mrs Phelps, Mrs P. Oliver, Mr P. Oliver and Mr W. George. A dainty supper was served
At a suitable interval Mr B. Roberts. M.P., in referring to the high esteem in which Miss Gray v.as held in the district, called upon her to open the numerous parcels. Mr Biggs, on behalf of Miss Gray, suitably replied. The singing of “Auld Lang Syne” brought a happy gathering to a close at midnight. < Vital Statistics. The vital statistics for May are as follow the figures for the corresponding month last year being in parentheses:- —Births 6 (1), deaths 1 (3), marriages 4 (3).
