DRIVE FOR EXPANSION IN BRITAIN INCREASED CALLS ON SHIPS. JOBS FOR CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTORS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 12.55 p.m.) LONDON, June 2. Mr R. S. Hudson, broadcasting on the Government’s scheme for an increase in agricultural production, said it was probable the Government would use thousands of conscientious objectors, distributed in organised bodies and would also make an immediate survey of tffe production capacity of 300.000 farms. Other measures in prospect were the reclamation of derelict land, an appeal for 5,000 recruits for the Women’s Land Army and also, ten thousand temporary farm assistants. Mr Hudson, broadcasting to farmers, launched a big drive for food production. He said: “We are now forced to send our ships much further for the things wo need and also require them to a greater extent for the carriage of munitions, and for this reason must rely more and more on our own efforts.
