REASONS FOR WAR

AS SEEN BY ITALIAN PROPAGANDIST FATE OF CONTINENT BEING DECIDED. MEDITERRANEAN & COLONIAL CLAIMS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 11.10 a.m.) ROME, June 2. The first was that it was impossible for a great nation to stay out of a conflict in which the fate of the Continent was being decided. “We should no longer be a great nation,” he said, “if we did not intervene in time.”

“Secondly.” he added. “Italy achieved an Alpine frontier in the last war, but did not secure complete independence and justice in the Mediterranean and in colonial realms. Our independence in the Mediterranean must be utterly complete.”
