INDOOR BASKETBALL
NOTES AND COMMENTS.
(By
“Tie-Up”)
The standard of play in the Indoor Basketball competition has improved 100 per cent. The alteration in the rules of the ladies section has speeded the game up, and from a spectators view is a great improvement. The outstanding team at present in the ladies section is the Stock and Station Agents, captained by Joan Gemmell. Miss Gemmell made some excellent shots last Thursday, potting them from well out. Her team mate, M. Bradey, played her usual vigorous game, and made several good interceptions. The defeat of the Reliance B team by the W.F.C.A. men’s team, makes the men’s competition interesting. The first round has ended and Reliance B and Vestas share the first position; then comes Bouzaids, W.F.C.A., State Kitchenette and Reliance A. In the Reliance-W.F.C.A. game on Thursday night, Reid, Faulknor and Wilson were responsible for the W.F.C.A. win. Wilson and Faulknor combined particularly well. The other games in the men’s section were fast and exciting, although wins were expected by Vesta and Bouzaids. Burns played a good game against Vesta, and his goal-throwing is improving with every game. _____
