WOMEN’S DIVISION
MONTHLY MEETING
(“Times-Age” Special.)
The monthly meeting of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held at the residence of Miss G. Heckler, Mangamahoe. There was a good attendance of members. The room was decorated with chrysanthemums and berries.
It was decided to purchase wool and material, and each member is to make garments for refugee children. Members also brought parcels for the same object. The competitions resulted as follows: —Best speech: Mrs J. Duncan; best bloom, Mrs H. Trass 1, Mrs J. Duncan 2. . An interesting talk was given on the Chelsea Show and seasonal gardening by Miss McGregor, of Masterton. Owing to the benzine restrictions, meetings will in future be held in each district.
Afternoon tea was served. On the motion of Mrs F. Scherf, a hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mrs McGovern and to Miss G. Heckler lor the use of her home.
EUCHRE TOURNAMENT
IN AID OF CROQUET CLUB FUNDS.
A euchre tournament was held at the residence of Mrs J. Milner on Thursday evening, in aid of the croquet funds. There was a fair attendance. The winners were:—Ladies, Mrs McArley; men, Mr J. Williams.
Owing to Mr and Mrs F .Scherf leaving the district it was decided that the euchre tourney which was to have been held on Thursday, June 13, will now be held on Thursday, June 6. A vote of thanks to Mrs J. Milner for the use of her home was passed on the motion of Mrs J. McKeown.
