ARMY HEADQUARTERS

IMPORTANT CHANGES MADE IN NEW ZEALAND. TRANSFERS & NEW APPOINTMENTS. (By Telegraph— Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. Important changes made in the General Staff of Army Headquarters are stated ,hy Major-General Duigan to have been made to cope with the great increase in work in the branch General Stall since the outbreak of war. particularly in connection with the training of the Expeditionary Force, perfecting plans for the defence of the Dominion and carrying into effect the Government’s recent decision to institute intensive training of the Territorial force and the National Military Reserve. Lieut-Colonel Conway, who has been director of mobilisation has relinquished that post to take up the position of director of military training. Lieut-Colonel Goss has vacated an appointment as a general staff officer to become personal assistant to Major-General Duigan. Lieut-Colonel Sherston becomes a general staff officer and Major Quilliam succeeds Colonel as director of mobilisation, with promotion to Lieut-Colonel.

Before taking up duty at Army headquarters, Major Quilliam was Crown Prosecutor and senior partner in a New Plymouth legal firm.
