Bitterly Cold Weather. Since Sunday the weather has been bitterly cold with heavy rain and conditions now point to a change for better weather, although the atmosphere is cold. A mantle of snow covers the higher levels. Personal Items. Mr T. Lewis, Feilding. has been on a visit to this district. Mr L. Mcllwraith, an erstwhile resident of this district, was a visitor here recently, being the guest of his brother-in-law, Mr Hapi Sutherland, for a few days. Mrs L. Graham has returned to Featherston. Mr and Mrs Johnson, Feilding. are guests at the Lake Ferry. Mr Hapi Cowan, Gladstone, was a visitor here for a few days. Mrs A. To Maari, Wanganui, is the guest of Mrs T. Te Maari. Kphunui. Mr and Mrs Victor Saunders will leave for Rotorua early next month, where Mr Saunders will undergo further treatment at the baths. Patriotic Effort. The local patriotic committee are making a special effort in connection with their appeal for the Red Cross Fund. A function is to be held on Saturday, June 8. Already several articles have been given to sell,- It is expected that there will be a large attendance.
