LAST NIGHT’S COMPETITIONS.. SOME EXCELLENT GAMES. The indoor basketball competitions were advanced another stage last night at the Y.M.C.A. The games resulted as follows:— WOMEN'S SECTION. A Grade. C. Smith's 7, Y.M.C.A. 6. Stock and Station 12, Hugo and Shearer’s 0. W.F.C.A. 14, Rover's 0.

B Grade. Hosiery 11. Garages 5. State Kitchenette 13, Graham’s 4. McKenzie's 8, Cathies 6.

MEN’S SECTION. W.F.C.A. 21, Reliance B 20. Vesta Batteries 29, State Kitchenette

Bouzaid's 17, Reliance A 4. A very consistent player for C. Smith’s is M. Julius, whose fast defensive work is a great help to her team. For Y.M.C.A., F. Bellis used her height to advantage in notching several 8 The superior shooting of the W.F.CA. forwards was in evidence against Rovers, A. Kiesenberg in particular, being in great form. Stock and Station proved too strong for Hugo’s, J. Gemmell and N. Brady being outstanding players for the winners. . , , The game between McKenzie s and Cathies proved the closest contest ol the evening. N. Hargood and N. McDonald were notable players in their respective teams. The defence of the Garages team was such that L. O’Neil, of Hosiery team, made the best of the oppoi trinities which came her way and she was quick to turn them into scoring points. t, j In the men s section, Reliance B ana W.F.C.A. provided excellent basketball, the former losing their first game by one point. For the winners N. FauMnor, Wilson and Harrington were in great form and with the losers not showing their usual form clinched a splendid victory. Bouzaid’s, with S. and D. Faulknoi playing at top form, were too strong for Reliance A. Leete was again in scoring mood for Vestas and the latter team”s superiot play was too much for Stale Kitchenette. . . The general standard of play is improving weekly.
