REGENT THEATRE
“AT THE CIRCUS.” A mirthquake such as only those Marx Bros, can bring about opens tonight at the Regent Theatre iti “Marx Bros, at the Circus.” From start to finish it proved one of the most successful comedies out of Hollywood since the last Marxian epic. Having over-run many other fields for comedy concoction, the Merry Marxians now run amok beneath the Big Top of a streamlined circus to bombard their audiences with their new gags and comedy sequences. Intermingled with the Marxes and their streamlined circus are all the thrilling acts, acrobats, equestrians, clowns and animals typical of the circus world. They share the camera with scores of circus animals, a gorilla, a seal, an orangutan, an Upside Down Girl, a Midget villian, the World's Strongest Man and a symphony orchestra cast adrift on a raft. Portraying the outstanding roles are Kenny Baker, Florence Rice, Eve Arden, Margaret Dumont and Nat Pendleton. The picture is the story of Kenny Baker, circus owner, who escapes losing his circus through the cooperation of Groucho, Harpo and Chico, which is accomplished through a chain of hilarious episodes. Beautiful musical numbers, with Harpo and Chico contributing with harp and piano, are woven through the comedy.
A splendid supporting programme includes the latest Air Mail News, a Pete Smith specialty and a most impressive Metro Miniature, “Miracle at Lourdes.” the famous rnecca of those seeking health through faith. The plans are at Nimmo's and the theatre.
