BRITISH EXPEDITIONARY FORCE INTACT tribute to tenacious DEFENCE. FIGHTING OF UNPARALLELED FURY. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright (Received This Day, 10.49 a.m.) ROME, May 30. The “Popolo di Roma’’ correspondent with the German army says the B.E.F. is still intact and defending itself with the greatest tenacity, although attacked from all sides. The fighting is of unparalleled fury. DESTROYERS LOST IN FIGHTING ON CHANNEL , COAST. PUNISHMENT INFLICTED ON GERMANS. (Received This Day, 10.49 a.m.) LONDON. May 30. The Admiralty announces that the destroyers Grafton, Grenade and Wakeful, and certain small auxiliary craft have been lost. The transport Abukir was sunk. British warships are giving all possible help to the land forces on the French and Belgian coasts. They have indicted considerable punishment on the Germans and have taken off wounded and a large number of other elements.
