The Air Ministry states that units of the Fleet Air Arm, co-operating with the R.A.F. Coastal Command carried out with loss a series of heavy and effective attacks yesterday against enemy positions along the French and Belgian coasts. They destroyed batteries and transports and scattered troops. R.A.F. medium bombers continued attacks against concentrations in north-eastern France last night. Two of our bombers have not returned. Last night our heavy bombers, without loss, again raided enemy communications in the Rhineland and the low countries. FIGHTERS’ BAG OVER TWENTY GERMAN PLANES. R.A.F. BOMB MANY NAZI CENTRES. (Received This Day, 10.5 a.m.) LONDON, May 28. It is officially announced that R.A.F. fighters destroyed or damaged 22 German planes in north-eastern France today. The R.A.F. yesterday, without loss, bombed Hamburg, Duisburg. Dortmund, Bremen and Cologne and again bombed Stavanger. They also destroyed or damaged eight German planes in the Narvik area. Thirteen of ours have not returned.
