HEAVY THUNDERSTORM FAILURE OF ELECTRIC POWER. (“Times-Age” Special.) 7 Yesterday afternoon a heavy thun- ■ derstorm was experienced in the Carterton district. Towards night it abated. The electric current failed throughout the district and darkness prevailed for about three-quarters of an hour. OBITUARY MR M. THOMPSON. The death occurred last evening of Mr Malcolm Thompson, youngest son of Mr and Mrs A. H. Thompson, of Carrington. Deceased, who was in his 24th year, was held in high esteem by all who knew him and the sympathy of a large circle of triends will be extended the parents and family in their bereavement. The funeral will take place tomorrow and will leave the home of Mr and Mrs Thompson, Carrington, for the Clareville Cemetery at 2 p.m. Borough Council. The monthly meeting of the Carterton Borough Council will be held on Tuesday evening. Druids’ Bali. The annual ball of the Totara Lodge of Druids will take place in the King’s Theatre, Carterton, tonight. Arrangements are complete for the gathering and there should be a large attendance. An excellent dance programme has been arranged and music will be supplied by Tom Udy’s Dance Orchestra. Prices of admission are advertised. Junior Football Team. The Wairarapa junior representative football team to play Hawke’s Bay will be chosen by the selector, Mr Gordon Udy, after a practice on the Carterton Showgrounds on Wednesday evening.
