CHURCH SERVICES
Special services in connection with the National Day of Prayer will be held at all Church of England centres tomorrow. The Holy Communion will be celebrated at St. Matthew’s Church at 8 a.m., at Kuripuni and Upper Plain at 9 a.m. Archdeacon Rich will be the preacher at St. Matthew’s Church both morning and evening. The Rev. V. W. Joblin will preach at Taueru at 2.30 p.m., and at Upper Plain at 7 p.m. The Rev. T. V. Pearson will conduct a service at the Public Hospital at 4 p.m.. and at Kuripuni at-7 p.m. A cordial invitation is extended to all interested to attend the special services in connection with the "Day of Prayer” conducted by the Rev. John Davie in Knox Church tomorrow morning and evening, and at Tinui and Langdale in the afternoon. The present crisis calls for all men of goodwill to re-dedicate themselves to the cause of freedom and righteousness. The Bible Class group will conduct the service at Kaituna. The service at Solway on Thursday evening will be conducted by the Rev. John Davie. Mr W. J. Lowe will be the speaker at both Church of Christ services tomorrow.
Tomorrow’s service in connection with the Masterton Baptist Fellowship to be held in the Y.M.C.A. at' 11 a.m. will be conducted by the Rev. W. S. Rollings, of Wellington. The call to prayer will be responded to and Mr Rollings will take for his subject “God’s Horses and Chariots of Fire." Sunday School services will be resumed at 10 a.m. and the Bible Study Class at 9.45 a.m. Tuesday night’s meeting will be presided over by the Rev. E. Batts, of Lower Hutt Baptist Church. The chart lectures will be continued on Sunday night at 7 o’clock at the Gospel Hall Ruhamah, the subject being “The Second Coming of Christ." There will be special period devoted to national prayer from 6.30 to 7 o’clock. In response to his Majesty’s request that tomorrow be observed as a special Day of Prayer, the services at the Methodist Church will be devoted to this purpose. The morning service will be conducted by the Rev. H. S. Kings who will lead with the theme “Prayer in the World Crisis.” The eveningservice will be conducted by Mr H. Skuse, who will speak on "The Purpose and Outcome of Pain." In accordance with instruction frotr his Holiness the Pope, tomorrow will be observed by Catholics throughou the world as a day of intercession foi peace. At St Patrick’s church. Masterton, the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will be all day and special sermons will be preached in the evening. A day of prayer and intercession will be held in the Salvation Army barrack: tomorrow.
D. Company (Machine-gunners) First Hawke’s Bay Regiment, will hold a church parade tomorrow, and take part in the National Day of Prayer service at St. Matthew’s Church. The men will assemble at the Drill Hall at 10.30 a.m. At the Lansdowne Presbyterian Church tomorrow morning the service will be taken by the Rev D. McNcu.' and in the evening the Rev R. Dickie will preach. Services will be held a' Kaiparoro at 1.30 p.m.. at Eketahuna at 3 p.m.. and at Alfredton at 7 p.m.
