RED CROSS APPEAL
ENCOURAGING SUPPORT PROGRESS OF STOCK DRIVE. Although the main house to house canvass for donations to the Sick, Wounded and Distressed Fund of the New Zealand Red Cross Society and Order of St John has been completed, interesting donations are still coming in to the office in Page’s buildings. One collector called on an old-age pensioner who said she had nothing at the time to give. She has since drawn her pension and handed in a good proportion of it to the office as a donation. Another good donation of £l7 2s, came from the Bridge circle of the Ranfurly Club. Mr J. L. Murray, of Church Street, Masterton, has made a donation of £5O to the Red Cross Appeal. As the date for the stock sale draws nearer, more and more farmers are giving donations of stock. Other encouraging features are the offer of the Carriers’ Association to convey all stock to the saleyards free of cost and the number of farmers who have offered holding paddocks for the stock in central positions until it is collected. Any farmers who still have stock to offer are urged to make contact with the office, phone 1963, or with Mr P. G. Ramsay as soon as possible. DONATIONS ACKNOWLEDGED. The committee of the Masterton Red Cross Society wish to thank the following donors of parcels and gifts to the various sub-groups, as follow:— Hospital supplies: Singer Sewing Machine Co, Woolworths, C.
