OBITUARY
MR A. McKENZIE. The death occurred at the Masterton Hospital yesterday of Mr Alexander McKenzie, of 16 Villa Street, Masterton, an old and highly respected resident of the district. Mr McKenzie was born at Fernridge 69 years ago and lived the greater part of his life in the district. Coming from a farming family, he carried on this occupation in the Wairarapa and Hawke’s Bay districts. He had not enjoyed the best of health for the past six months and was a patient sufferer until the last.
He is survived by a widow, two sons and six daughters. Messrs J. Harvey McKenzie, of Te Ore Ore, and Colin G. McKenzie, who has resided in Canada for 12 years, are sons. The daughters are Mesdames A. Mayhew, R. I. Matthews, R. G. Hills, Miss B. McKenzie (all of Masterton), Mesdames G. R. McNutt (Owaka) and S. W. Hogarth (New Plymouth). Messrs T. McKenzie (Clareville), ‘G. McKenzie (Greytown), Colin McKenzie (Opotiki) and Robt. McKenzie (Masterton) are brothers, and Mrs J. Pomeroy (Miriam Street, Masterton) is a twin sister, and Mrs R. R. Burling (Essex Street, Masterton) is also a sister. The funeral will take place on Monday, leaving the late residence, following a service to be held at 2 p.m. for the Masterton Cemetery.
