"FOUR'S A CROWD.” (Approved for Universal Exhibiiton.) INDOOR BASKETBALL LAST NIGHT’S CONTESTS. SOME THRILLING ENCOUNTERS. In the fourth round of the indoor basketball competition, played in the Y.M.C.A.' last night, some good games , were witnessed. In the ladies’ A grade, jV Stock and Station , >ll .. maintained their unbeaten record by de- j/Z? feating C. Smith’s. \ In the ladies’ B grade, J. R. McKen- If % \\ zie’s gained the lead I "y $ in a close game with / .7/ 118 Hosiery Mills. ‘Vy/ \(l In the men’s divi- //V \\A sion. Reliance B U? \\. maintained their lead by defeating Bou- ' 1V zaid’s in a game which was in doubt right till the final whistle. The results are as follow: — LADIES' A GRADE. Stock and Station beat C. Smith’s, 12/3. In this game the superior height of the winners proved a great advantage. Hugo and Shearer beat Y.M.C.A.. 13/2. Y.M.C.A. were one player short in this game. Woolworth’s beat Rovers, 6/4. In a very closely contested game, quick covering defence was a feature rather than the shooting. LADIES’ B GRADE. McKenzie’s beat Hosiery Mills, 8/4. This game was conspicuous for spoiling tactics rather than good open play, with the former just shading their opponents. Garages beat Graham’s, 14/3. Good shooting and accurate passing combined to give Garages a clear-cut victory. State Kitchenette beat Cathie's, 12/6. This was one of the brightest games of the. evening, in which superior mobility proved the deciding factor. MEN’S SECTION. Reliance B beat Bouzaid’s, 16/15. In this game fast spectacular play, with good shooting and accurate passing, kept the spectators at a high pitch of excitement. Vesta’s beat Reliance A, 20/2. Vesta’s combination and positional play proved too much for their opponents, who were not conversant with some of the finer points of the game. W.F.C.A. beat State Kitchenette, 19/8. W.F.C.A. is a greatly improved team, and although hard-pressed in the first spell by State Kitchenette, who have come on well, asserted their superiority in the final stages of the game. The games were efficiently controlled by Messrs Lynn. Leete. Costello and Riley. The timekeeper and scorer, Mr K. Morris, with team steward Mr J. Bruce, capably carried out their duties.
