MATCHES IN TOWN HALL. WAIRARAPA v. AMERICAN MORMONS. Basketball enthusiasts are looking forward to the matches to be played in the Town Hall on Saturday, May 25. These are being run in connection with the Interhouse Girls’ Association dance. There will be two ladies' games'between Stock and Station v. W.F.C.A. and Woolworth’s v. Hugo and Shearer’s. A special men’s game will be played between an all-American team of Mormon Elders and a Wairarapa re-' preseijtative team. It is hoped the Mormons will be lead by Elder Bodell, who is claimed as the greatest tactician in the game in New Zealand. COMMENTS ON PLAY. The art of goal throwing still leaves a lot to be desire.d in the girls’ teams; exceptions to date being Miss O’Neil, of Hosiery Mills, and Miss Hargood, of McKenzie’s, whose accurate throwing has been largely responsible for their teams success to date. The girl A grade promises to be a most closely contested competition. At the moment Stock and Station with a very solid defence look like carrying oil the honours, but Woolworth's. Hugo and Shearer’s and W.F.C.A. will be very hard to beat. In the men's section there is still room for plenty of improvement, particularly with positional play and combination. A very noticeable fault, too, at the moment is that goal shooters are endeavouring to score from too far out from the basket. However, teams are improving each week and should soon iron out these faults.
