All Irish Wins in Good Style. Giving a fine display of jumping, the second fancy. All Irish, won the Waikato Steeplechase yesterday practically from end to end. Enjoyment was with All Irish at the end of the first round, but he fell at the post and rails before turning into the back, and All Irish was left clear. All Irish led over the sod wall into the straight from Simint. Dauber and Biform. and he more than held his own to win by 12 lengths from Biform, who beat Dauber by six lengths. London was fourth, just beating Simint on the post. Fat Boy fell at the first fence and continued riderless till reaching the jump in front of the public stand, where he swerved across the field and brought down Mahala. who was going well. Air Commodore fell at the sod wall at the foot, of the straight in the first round. Jewelled Girdle Finishes Strongly. The going was very bad when the Hamilton Hurdles was run and the good mudlark, Jewelled Girdle, in spite of his rise of 101 b for winning on the first day, had no difficulty in scoring again. Holme Fell set a solid pace that had the field strung out early, and before reaching the stands he was out six lengths from Lapidarian, with another six lengths to Jewelled Girdle and Streamline, and then General Ruse and. Inness Lad. Holme Fell was beaten at the end of a mile, and Lapidarian was then left in front, from Jewelled Girdle and Streamline. Crossing the top Jewelled Girdle ran to the front, and he led into the straight from Lapidarian. Inness Lad and General Ruse. Nothing had a chance with Jewelled Girdle at the finish, and he drew away to win by eight lengths from Inness Lad. who defeated General Ruse by four lengths. Streamline was fourth, followed by Lapidarian, Very Glad, Agog and Devon. Aussie Ra appeared unsuited by the going and was never dangerous. Loombination and Holme Fell finished a long way back. N.Z. Horses in India. The New Zealand horses Moorsotis, Fils de Vaals and Meadow, who were purchased early in the year by A. Higgins, have reached India, where they are to do their future racing. Moorsotis and Meadow arrived in splendid condition, but Fils de Vaals was in a bad way, having contracted a severe chill on the voyage from Melbourne. Higgins is an Australian who has trained with success in India for a number of years and horses he secured previously from New Zealand were Karapoti, Martara, Kahapa. Heremia and Ben Braggie. Jamieson’s Team. The Randwick trainer J. T. Jamieson, who has been visiting the Dominion for some weeks, lias returned to Sydney. Jamieson will have about 18 to 20 horses to prepare for the new season, including the colt by Beau Pere from Banita, who was purchased at the Sydney yearling sales by Mr A. Cooper for 3500 guineas. In addition he is also to train the New Zea-land-bred Gold Salute, who was added to the list recently, and has been enjoying a spell. Jamieson at one time trained horses at Opaki. King Rey. King Rey has always impressed as a horse likely to take high honours as a jumper, but it must be admitted that in the Great Northern Hurdles he appears to have his share with 11.7. for after all he is only a comparative novice in this department. The handicapper has also evidently been impressed by the recent form of Enjoyment in the north, for he has taken no risks with'the Apellant gelding in allotting him 10.1 in both the Hurdles and the Steeples. No doubt he is a direct improver, but even so it is doubtful if his form has been any the more promising than that of Aussia Ra, who should be all the better for last year’s experience. It is through Aussia Ra that a line can be secured on King Rey’s weight. They last met in the Styx Hurdles at. Riccarton, when King Rey conceded 91b and a beating to Aussia Ra. Even allowing for the penalty, it is difficult to see why King Rey should now be asked to give away 221 b. especially as the opposition will be much stronger than at Riccarton.
