Messrs Attlee and Greenwood made a statement: "The Labour Party is convinced that a drastic reconstruction ol the Government is necessary in order to win the war, but confronted by the latest series of abominable aggressions by Hitler, reaffirms its determinations to do its utmost to achieve victory and calls on its members to devote all their energies to this end and to stand firn and united through whatever trials and sacrifices lie ahead.”

It is officially stated that arrangements have been made to assist in the evacuation of British subjects from Belgium and Holland.
