SHEEP FARMERS’ PROBLEMS
MEETING AT MASSEY COLLEGE. LECTURES AND OTHER'EVENTS. The ninth annual meeting of sheep farmers at Massey College will be held on June 5,6, and 7. The programme includes a number of lectures, including on by Mr. J. E. Hewitt, of Mangamaire, on plans for increasing production. Other subjects are:—The Estimation of the Probable Returns from Developftiental Work, by Mr Lloyd Wilson; Some Preventable Losses in Our Sheep Stock, by Mr W. M. Webster; Increasing Profits from Sheep Through Progeny Testing and Culling for Production, by Dr. P. R. McMahon; Points of Interest Arising out of Mole Drainage Investigations, by Mr. A. W. Hudson; Pasture Management in Relation to Increased Carrying Capacity, by Mr. E. Bruce Levy; The Comparative Food Values of Certain Crops, by Mr. E. A. Clark; Providing Water Supplies on Hill Country, by Messrs W. K. Morton and S. R. Thomson; The Necessity for Preserving a Balance Between the Different Classes of Sheep in This Country, by Mr. A. C. Morton; Costs of Growing Forage Crops, by Messrs Alex Stuart and I. L. Elliott; The Management of Fat Lamb Farms tc Enable Additional Store Lambs to be Fattened, by Mr. A. P. Howard; ano Some Experiences with Electric Fences, by Mr. P. B. Lynch. Other events include a debate on: “Is Topdressing of Hill Country a Payable Proposition?”; and a discussion on “Some Means by Which Topdressing cn Hill Country Can be Made Easier": and a visit to the drainage .experiment) on Massey College Farm.
