SHOW AFFAIRS
P. & A. SOCIETY ANNUAL MEETING AT CARTERTON. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The president, Mr R. R. Tilson, presided over the annual meeting of the Wairarapa P. and A.' Society held at Carterton this morning. A motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr A. H. Warren was passed. Several apologies for absence were received. The financial statement submitted by the treasurer (Mr Geo Brown) showed a net profit of £243 14s 2d over the year’s working. The accumulated fund stood at £560 11s Id. The secretary (Mr L. H. Smart) reported that only 28 now members had been elected since the last annual meeting. It was the lowest number since his association with the society. In stressing the urgent need for an increased membership Mr Smart stated that an average of 70 members left the society each year. The election of officers resulted: President, Mr J. A. McLeod; vice-presi-, dents, Messrs P. Bain, C. A. Cadwallader; treasurer, Mr Geo Brown; auditor, Mr H. M. B. Trapp; general committee (elected for two years), Messrs A. E. Booth, H. B. Booth, W. Howard Booth, T. Bubb, R. T. Cundy, K. Donald. Q. Donald, J. G. Fairbrother, T. A. Hamilton, G. W. B. Hardy, J. Johnson, C. A. Knutson, R. G. Kemble, A. R. Morrison, Colin McLeod, Murdoch McLeod, W. A. Pyke, H. Rayner, W. H. Robieson, G. I. Seivers, O. Skeet, R. R. Tilson, C. C. Wilkinson. A vote of thanks was passed to Messrs W. H. Bird and M. Campbell for their past services on the committee.
