WOMEN’S DIVISION
MEETING AT CARTERTON.
(“Times-Age” Special.)
The monthly meeting of the Carterton branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers’ Union was held in the Presbyterian Hall. There was a good attendance of members.
It was decided to meet members of the Young Farmers’ Club and Farmers' Union to discuss arrangements for a combined ball to be held in the King’s Theatre. Mrs Stretton was appointed secretary. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mrs H. Hodder when she handed in £l2. the profits from card tournaments held in the Band Room. The money is to be forwarded as a donation from the branch to the Y.M.C.A. and Salvation Army Hut Fund. Mrs H. Ordish and Mrs H. Renall were appointed delegates to attend provincial meetings at Masterton. A vote of thanks was accorded to Mrs H. Renall for arranging a trip to the Exhibition by bus.
The prizes for the year’s competitions were presented, the results being:—First in flower blooms and shrubs. Mrs Couper; first in cooking. Mrs E. Allen; first in novelty competitions, Miss P. Renall.
The competitions for the June meeting will be: Ginger nuts and soldier's ■‘housewife.’'
