WAR APPEAL

HELP FOR SICK. WOUNDED & DISTRESSED. RED CROSS & ST. JOHN FUND. Again funds are being appealed for —this time not for the able soldiers in camp, but for those who become casualties. As the need for service of this type will go on for much longer than the war the present object is to raise £250.000 so that assistance may be given and continued.

This appeal will start on Sunday next, and all money raised will be used for the express purpose for which it is earmarked —that of extending relief to the sick, wounded and distressed.

The guarantee of correct and careful expenditure of all money raised is that the appeal is entirely in the hands of the Red Cross and St. John through the National Patriotic Fund. During the last war more than £l,348,000 was collected for similar purposes and the public are urged to keep up the district’s reputation for generosity in these matters.
