Britannia Rules The Waves!

BRITISH RULE rests on sea power, and if that were gone we should be lost. England herself would be faced with starvation. The fact that England was in danger of starvation would undoubtedly hamper the British fleet. Therefore, the power of the British Fleet means the preservation of the British Empire. Our rule at sea keeps the Dominions free from an enemy in the present war, and once that power departs from our grasp, then the fate of the Dominions is sealed. The size of our merchant marine itself makes it an object worthy of attack by an enemy, and it is only our sea pow er that has kept down our merchant ship losses in the present war. Once our fleet loses command of the sea, then the whole of the Empire will suffer untold hardships, and New Zealand will be liable to attack by an enemy. For the safety of our Empire, Britain must always be the Ruler of the Sea.
