WATERWORKS IMPROVEMENT

LOAN PROPOSAL CARRIED. SUBSTANTIAL MAJORITY GAINED IN SMALL POLL. The Masterton borough Council’s £10,500 waterworks improvement loan proposal, which was put to ratepayers yesterday, was carried by a substantial majority on a small poll. The Returning Officer, Mr G. T. O'Hara Smith, announced the provisional results of the poll as follows:— For the loan, 602. Against, 254. Informal. 10. A few declaration votes have yet to be counted. Polling was very quiet yesterday morning, but speeded up during the afternoon. Of the 3372 ratepayers entitled to vote, about 900 exercised their right.
