MASTERTON CLUB MEETING.

AN INTERESTING ADDRESS

At the weekly meeting of the Masterton Esperanto Club held last evening in the club room. Municipal Buildings, Mr A. G. Wiltshire presided over a satisfactory attendance. It was decided to accept with thanks the offer of Mr and Mrs Lamont for the club to meet in future each Monday at . their home at 10 Cambridge Terrace.

"Esperanto in South America" was the subject of a brief address by the secretary, Mr W. H. King. He referred to the strong part which the South American republics formed in the. Esperanto movement and mentioned that in recent months at Rio de Janiero the Ist Brazilian Congress of journalists and authors and the 3io. Brazilian Congress of Teosophists. after being addressed by a prominen'. Esperantist, had each passed resolutions favouring the adoption of Esperanto. In addition, the Argentine Committee of Electro-technics has issued in Esperanto the Spanish section of the international electro-technics dictionary. A combined class devoted over an hour to the reading and translation of "A Princess From Mars,” by Edgar Rice Burroughs, which is being utilised for study purposes by club members. Blackboard writing from impromptu dictation was undertaken by Messrs N. Lamont and W. J. Beresford, the passages being subsequently analysed.
