The Admiralty announced that, following upon the withdrawal of troops from Namsos, his Majesty’s ships, including the Afridi, Captain P. L. Vian, D. 5.0., provided the defence for the ccnvoy against aircraft and submarine attack. With the arrival of daylight, repeated waves of enemy aeroplanes kept up an incessant attack against the convoy, but a barrage, maintained by the escort’s anti-aircraft guns, was so effective that the transports were untouched. It was in the course of this operation that H.M.S. Atridi was. struck by bombs and subsequently sank. Two enemy planes were shot down. MOVING NORTH GERMAN TROOPS AND PLANES. Over 100 planes were headed for the north yesterday. The newspaper “Tidningen” states the opinion that the Germans are planning a blitzkieg against Narvik.
