WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION ANNUAL MEETING AT CARTERTON ARRANGEMENTS FOR CLUB MATCHES. ("Times-Age" Special.) The annual meeting of the Wairarapa Miniature Rifle Association was held in the Foresters’ Hall, Carterton, last Saturday evening, Mr W. Johnson (president) being in the chair. Theie were also present: Messrs B. R. Jenkins and D. P. Donald (Masterton); D. J. Flynn (Martinborough); J. Buck (Featherston); W. Press, R. Hawkei, DGayfer (Carterton); H. Gray and R. Tilson (Greytown); and the secretary, C. J. DeLacey. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs L. Rasmussen and M. Hodder (South leather ston). . Prior to transaction of busmess, the chairman referred to the death of tne Rt Hon. M. J. Savage, members standing in silence for a few moments as a mark of respect to his memory. Reference was made to the unfortunate accident sustained by Mr R. J. King, of Masterton. and the secretary was instructed to write a letter to Mt King sympathising with him in his misfortune. The annual report and balance sheet were read and adopted, the l at t er showing a credit balance of £24 9s 3d. In moving their adoption the chairman paid a tribute to the work of the secl ’ e " tary and the executive for the healthy state of the finances of the association. It was resolved to proceed wuh he inter-club matches as usual with the starting date to be the week ending June 22 instead of May. The first fl. tores will be: Masterton v. Carterton, at Masterton; South Featherston v. Pea Son. al South raters Martinborough v. Grey town at Gieytown. It was decided that in th<event of Martinborough being unable to obtain a suitable hall theMartinborough matches be postponed for the first two fixtures and arranged as opportunity occurs. The remaining fixtoes are to be 'drawn by the secre- " A discussion ensued regarding petrol restrictions for travelling purposes, and after consideration the secretary was authorised to write to the Minister of Transport in regard to the same. It was-decided that the annual rifle championship meeting of the association be held in the Crown Theatre, Greytown, on Saturday, July’ 20, commencing at 10 o'clock, the same programme as last year is to be arranged and metric targets will be used with double sets of targets for each shooter. Only five shots will be fired on each, plus the sighter on the first tarIt was resolved that a trophy be awarded to the lady scoring the highest aggregate points in matches 1,2, 3, 4, A and B grades. Mr L. G. Rasmussen and a lady member of the South Featherston club were appointed to control the pans match. . , „ It was resolved that optional spotting by' telescope be agreed to in inter-club matches. , ~ , Tho president referred to the excellent work carried out by the secretary over a period of 21 years in the interest of the association, and . moved that a bonus be granted to him as a slight recognition of his services. Other delegates spoke in a similar manner. Votes of thanks were passed to the Press, all officials and Mr H. Rolls for his assistance at the championship meeting. , Supper was later provided.
