TIENTSIN DISPUTE
BRITAIN & JAPAN REACH BASIC AGREEMENT. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This*Day. 1.20 p.m.) TOKIO. May 5. After a two hour conference, Sir Robert Craigie (British Ambassador) and Vice-Minister Tani reached a basic agreement in the Tientsin dispute. Britain.. France and Japan are shortly signing a memorandum of agreement providing for terms in the Concessions and for restoring and maintaining order in the Tientsin foreign area.
