Heketa Mia Manihera is a son of Ropata Heketa Manihera. who is a son of Manihera Rangitaika Waho. the great high chief of the Lower Wairarapa. Ropata or Bob as we used to call him. was the godson of the late Dr Hector. He went to Klondyke with a Masterton party. Heketa Mia’s
mother was a daughter of Ihaia Whakamairo, who was a. son of High Chief Retemana of the Ngaumutawa Maoris. One of Matia Mokai’s descendants lives at Hastwcll. If these two could call the others to a hui (meeting) something might be done. If they don’t it certainly will be a lost lake.
