FEILDING SALE.
STORE SHEEP EASIER IN PRICE

FEILDING. May 3.
The prices varied from unsteady to fair at the cattle fair held in Feilding today, the demand for a heavy penning of run stock being patchy. The values for sheep were more or less unchanged, though those for stores were slightly easier.
Fat sheep: Moderate entry of mutton found a firm market, and a total clearance was effected. Extra prime wethers made 26s lOd to 28s, prime heavy 25s to 26s 6d. medium 23s to 24s 9d, unfinished 22s 6d; extra prime ewes 24s 7d, prime 19s Id to 21s 6d, average sorts 16s 9d to 18s 9d,.
Store sheep: Breeding ewes had an off day, the market not showing the same inquiry as last week for either ewes or lambs. Good two-tooth ewes made 30s, second-grade 27s 6d to 28s 3d; good m.a. ewes 25s 3d; two and four-tooth ewes 27s 3d; plain four and five-year ewes 16s 9d; plain five-year ewes 14s sd, better sorts 16s 6d; wether lambs, good 15s 6d, small 10s to Ils 6d; best ewe lambs 20s Bd. Store cattle: Excellent sales were made in some cases, but, generally, the market was unsteady to easier.
Dairy cattle: A small entry of winter calvers sold at last rates. Good springing cows made £7 15s, others from £4 10s; choice springing heifers £9. backward from £3 17s 6d. Fat cattle: A firm sale resulted for beef, good, finished, lightweight cows selling well. Prime station cows made £7 10s to £7 12s 6d. lightweights £6 to £7; light prime heifers, £6 7s 6d to £7; light A.A. steers, £5 17s 6d to £7 17s 6d; ex-dairy cows, £4 to £5 15s. Pigs: An excellent entry of pigs sold at advanced prices. Weaners made 7s to 9s - slips, 13s 6d io 15s; stores. £1 15s; porkers. £1 15s to £2 12s 6d; baconers, £3. CARTERTON SALE. PRACTICALLY A TOTAL CLEARANCE. Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report as follows: —A yarding in excess of advertised numbers came forward at oui’ Carterton Sale yesterday. and was offered to a large attendance. With the exception of one or two pens of lambs practically a total clearance was effected at the following prices:— Sheep—Prime heavy fat lambs, to 29s 9d; fat lambs, 23s to 25s 6d, fat wethers. 21s 6d to 235; fat ewes, 15s 6d, l7s to 17s 2d; forward ewes, to 12s lOd; store ewes, 5s lOd, 6s to 8s; ewe lambs, to 13s 6d; woolly wether lafhbs, to 15s 4d; b.f. lambs, 14s 6d to 16s 3d; shorn wether lambs, to 13s 6d. Cattle: Jersey cows on drop, to £l4; springing Jersey heifers, to £9; fat cows, £4 15s to £6 2s; forward cows, £3 to £4 10s; store cows, 35s to £2 10s; cows and calves, £3 16s to £5 Ils; fat heifers, £5 7s 6d to £5 14s; weaner Jersey heifers, £2 to £3; 18 months’ heifers r.w.b.. £3 5s to £3 7s 6d; bulls, to £7. Pigs: Weaners (good), 9s 6d to 10s 6d; ditto (medium). 8s to 9s; ditto (small), 6s to 7s 6d; slips, to 14s; store pigs, 17s 6d to 25s 6d; light porkers, 28s to 31s; porkers. 33s to £2 4s; baconers to £2 15s.
